The Entrepreneurial Journal with Dr. Jide

There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from completing a demanding day at work.

Then there is another kind—the tiredness of building something that does not yet fully exist.

My entrepreneurial journey involves both.

I continue to work in clinical practice, caring for patients, supporting colleagues and contributing to clinical governance. Alongside this, I am building Sapphire Digital Health Advisory, developing digital health and neurodiversity-focused solutions, growing Health Conversations with Dr Jide, and writing regularly on LinkedIn and through newsletters.

Some days, these roles strengthen one another.

On other days, they compete for the same limited supply of time, attention and energy.

An African proverb says:

“Little by little, the bird builds its nest.”

That captures this season perfectly.

From a YouTube Channel to a Wider Platform

Health Conversations with Dr Jide began as a way to make health information accessible.

It is now evolving into a wider platform for conversations about patient care, neurodiversity, digital health, clinical safety and healthcare innovation.

The next phase requires stronger editorial planning, more meaningful guests and greater consistency.

It also requires teamwork.

As the saying goes:

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

A founder may start by doing everything, but sustainable growth begins when the vision becomes bigger than one person.

Building SDHA

Sapphire Digital Health Advisory grew from a simple conviction: healthcare technology must be clinically safe, practical and responsive to human needs.

We are developing services and products across clinical safety, AI assurance, digital governance, professional training and neurodiversity-inclusive support, including Allo Workplace.

Turning expertise into enterprise is rarely straightforward.

It requires product development, research, partnerships, legal protection, sales, funding, communication and constant refinement.

At times, it feels like building the bridge while still crossing the river.

A Yoruba proverb reminds us:

“Ọ̀nà kan ò wọ ọjà.” There is more than one road to the marketplace.

SDHA is growing through advisory services, education, digital products, research and thought leadership. The challenge is to ensure that these roads eventually lead to one destination.

My Primary Job Is Part of the Foundation

My clinical role is demanding, but it keeps me grounded.

It keeps me close to real patient needs, workforce pressures and organisational realities.

Clinical governance has also shaped how I approach business:

What could go wrong?

Who could be affected?

What evidence supports the decision?

Who is accountable?

These are clinical questions, but they are also sound business questions.

The main challenge is capacity.

Some evenings are not for major breakthroughs. They are for one important email, one paragraph, one document or one follow-up.

As the proverb says:

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Progress does not always arrive loudly.

Sometimes it looks like quiet consistency.

Writing in Public

Writing on LinkedIn has become more than marketing for me.

Writing sharpens thinking. It exposes weak assumptions and invites perspectives that may otherwise be missed.

The conversations around leadership, psychological safety, digital transformation, AI governance and workplace inclusion have often improved my thinking.

An Akan proverb says:

“Wisdom is like a baobab tree; no one person can embrace it alone.”

That is why thoughtful disagreement and open discussion matter.

But visibility must always be supported by substance.

Not every conversation becomes a partnership.

Not every idea becomes a product.

Not every week produces visible progress.

As the saying goes:

“The fruit of patience is sweet.”

What I Am Learning

This journey continues to teach me that clarity often comes through action.

Attention is a limited business resource.

Delegation gives a vision room to grow.

Consistency matters more than occasional intensity.

And rest is not the enemy of ambition; it is part of sustaining it.

There is another African proverb:

“However long the night, the dawn will break.”

Entrepreneurship is rarely one dramatic breakthrough.

It is one conversation, one prototype, one article, one relationship and one lesson at a time.

What Comes Next

My priorities are to strengthen the weekly podcast, advance SDHA Academy, progress Allo Workplace, develop our clinical safety and AI assurance services, and create a more sustainable rhythm across clinical work, business, writing and family life.

The goal is not perfect balance.

It is deliberate alignment.

As the proverb says:

“When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.”

This is not a story from the finish line.

It is a journal from the road.

Perhaps entrepreneurship is not only about building a company.

It is also about building the discipline, patience, resilience and wisdom required to lead it.

Reflection

What are you building alongside your primary responsibilities?

And what is carrying you forward discipline, faith, purpose, community or simply the decision not to stop?
